Tanjore is a municipality and the headquarters of the Thanjavur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Thanjavur was the royal city of the Cholas, Nayaks and the Mahrattas .It is an important district of the state of Tamil Nadu set amidst the lush green green rice fields of the Cauvery delta.It is also called the rice bowl of Tamil Nadu , the place is famous for its handicrafts.
